A telephone call from my son in Australia last night at around 11 pm brought the news that we have a new grandson. Matthew James was safely delivered and mother and baby are doing well. He weighed in at 7lb 4oz (3.05 kg), and has brown hair.
Son sounded very pleased and excited, telling me what a beautiful morning it was there.
Matthew was born at 10.33 pm (British time) on 1 September but in fact his birth time and date is 7.03 am, 2 September, being Australian time.
I telephoned this morning and spoke to each of the family, and heard new grandson making baby noises (not crying)! I am very thrilled and on 17 September will be travelling to meet the newest member of our family!

Congratulations on becoming a grandmother. Have you decided on a name yet - for YOU, that is. Grandma, Gran, Granny, Nan, Nanny, Nanna. There are so many to choose from. Which one suits you?
Hi Rosiero - Matthew is my 7th grandchild so I'm know to all as Nannie (Anne). This is simply because 1st grandchild was actually step-grandchild and already had two Grandmas! Being Nannie made life easier. Thank you for congratulations. A x
Anne
Congratulations!!! I'm very happy for you and your family. I love the name "Nannie" too - it reminds me of Peter Pan for some reason...
The tension has gone now. Congratulations to your son and daughter-in-law and also to you.
Congratulations! You are one very proud Nanny. :)
Congratulations.......I bet you can't wait to fly out to see the little fella.........lovely name,

Oh, congratulations!!! How funny to feel he was born a day earlier than he was! LOL!
I only remember one of my grandmothers, but she was a 'Nannie', soon shortened to 'Nan'. I miss her, she was a wonderful old lady .. about four foot nothing with a stentorian voice!
Well done Anne. Grandchildren are just the best aren't they, and great grandchildren are even better!
Congratulations Anne, that is fantastic news. I see a visit to Australia coming up soon :))))
I also want to thank you for the award and I have now put it up on my blog. It was very sweet of you to include me and I appreciated it greatly.

Jay - hope that my grandchildren will always think of me fondly. I only had one grandmother and have very happy memories of her.
RAC - yes - love spending time with my grandchildren but will have to wait a few years yet for great grandchildren - oldest grandchild is 10.
Denise - getting excited now about my forthcoming trip. And a pleasure to give you a well deserved award.
Thanks again to all for congratulations.
