We have 7 grandchildren and love them all. Unfortunately we only have 3 in this country and don't get to see the others as often as we would like. Our youngest grand-daughter though is probably the funniest of them all. She is now almost 5 years old and has always been a character. Without wishing to sound like a doting grandparent here are some of the things she has said.
Sent to the toilet with a reminder to wash her hands she came back downstairs and the following took place:
GD - "I didn't need to wash my hands Mum"
M - "why not, you must have touched the toilet"
GD - "no I didn't - I used your flannel" !!
Recently on a visit to them (they live in Stratford on Avon) she asked if my daughter and I would play cafe's with her. We had to sit at a little table, she brought us menus from her play kitchen, set knives and forks in front of us and then went to get her pad and pencil. Back at the table she asked her mummy what she would like. My daughter said she would like steak please. Silence followed, then she looked at her mummy and said "my dear - you can't have that because I can't write it". We laughed very loud - (fortunately she wasn't upset) and then I ordered egg, which she could write. My daughter then spelled out steak and all was well.
She began school last September and is now getting to grips with learning to read. Her teachers are pleased with her and have told her mummy and daddy at parents evening that she is a bright little girl. She is doing well but struggling with a new book one day said to her mummy - "I'm not designed for reading"!
We know better!
