They're Playing our Tune

I was watching Loose Women at lunchtime today and the girls were discussing love songs and whether or not each of them and their respective partners have a particular song which means a lot to them.

OH and I do have such a song - it is "Wooden Heart" sung by the late, great Elvis Presley. Not as strange a choice for "our song" as you might think.

While we were on our honeymoon, one evening we were sat on a balcony, having a quiet drink and from somewhere nearby we heard this song being played. I told OH that it was a song I really liked and we enjoyed listening to it. OH can play the harmonica quite well and a few days after we returned home he surprised me by playing "Wooden Heart" to me. He had been practising it, unknown to me. Now whenever we hear the song, it brings back some lovely memories.

Do you have a favourite song that means something special to you and/or your partner.

We don't really have a song, but I do have a soft spot for Wooden Heart myself! I've never been a huge Elvis fan in the way some people are, but I've always loved his voice and many of his songs.

That was a really sweet and romantic thing for your husband to do. :)

I loved Elvis too we must be about the same age!!We were married 2006 and Mikes twin girls sang Elton Johns Your Song and so that is now ours!Thank you for your encouraging words on my blog I think I am in one of those doldrums that comes from too much time in side! All this cold weather and snow, while pretty from inside, is a bit of a pain to go out in. But then on a brighter note gives us all much more stitching time!!
Happy days

We don't really have a song...but we have musical tastes in common. We both sing along to "Hotel California"!

That was a very nice thing of your husband to do.... :)

I had forgotten all about that song, I haven't heard it in years. I really enjoyed hearing it again.

We don't have a particular song but we both enjoy some of the same bands from the seventies and eighties.

That was so sweet of your husband to learn the song for you.

That is a beautiful song. I can see him singing it in one of his movies but I can't pull the rabbit out of the hat and name it just this second. You've got a romantic husband there Anne and some lovely memories. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

OG liked the Willie Nelson version of an Elvis song. You Were Alwas On My Mind. And "our song" was Winterwood by Don Mclean. They make me want to cry when I think of them.

RAC - I like "you were always on my mind" as well but I shall have to find Winterwood and listen to that. I don't recall it. A

We have a song - Wonderwall by Oasis. It was a big hit when we met fifteen years ago and so it always brings back great memories.
Every time someone comes to visit us from England they want to go to 4 places: Gracelands, Grand Canyon, Niagara, or New York. So I have been to Gracelands twice now and last time had my picture taken with Elvis's tailor! Gracelands (and Elvis) are fabulous. X

When we got married 'Everything I do I do for you' by Bryan Adams was No 1. It means something to me if not to my husband
