OH's son, P, my stepson who lives close to us, (the only one of our four children who does) loves to go fishing. He and a friend have a boat and, as well as work and family commitments, frequently take part in fishing competitions, sometimes going off to other resorts. This morning however there was a competition being held locally and he told us they would be launching their boat at 8.30 am. We looked out of our front windows just after 8 am and saw that the fishermen were beginning to congregate on the beach ready for launch. OH walked down to the jetty to see what was going on and I went out and stood on our balcony. Tide was high at 8.30 and off they all went, having to be back by 2 pm when it would begin to ebb.

A lovely morning but very chilly at 8.30, well it is January, but I could hear birds chirping as well as the ever present seagulls. It was such a pleasure to stand there and watch the comings and goings, not only on the beach, but by then there were lots of walkers about, many with their dogs. I am so looking forward to the warmer weather. I'm as sure as I can be that we are going to be very happy here.

Those photos (especially the top ones) look fantastic. Good thing you were able to take them from your balcony though, I wouldn't have liked being out on the water at this time of year...
great photos...did they catch anything???
The photos are fantastic! You have really great wiev from your window Anne, and no snow!
Have a nice week ahead!
I love the sea even in winter. It's a different kind of mood with a different beauty.
Lovely photos.
With that view to look out at I don't think that I would get much done. It must be so interesting watching all the comings and goings.
Beautiful photos.
What a wonderful view you have from your balcony. Great photos but as someone else asked, did they catch anything?
What lovely comings and goings Anne. Thanks for sharing it all with us with these great photos. I enlarged every one of them so that I could have a closer look.
What wonderful views!!!! I agree...I would not be getting much done, except watching and observing, oohing, and aahing.

Aaaahhhhh! I know that view!
I bet it was cold there.

Lovely photographs especially when enlarged. Do the anglers catch and throw back?
Mara - no I wouldn't have liked it out on the water either.
Deb - son caught nothing yesterday.
Joo - snow all gone now, thank goodness.
Winifred - we see it differently almost every day.
CW - it is quite a time waster!
SquirrelQueen - son caught nothing but one of the fishermen caught a 20lb cod.
Denise - quite a bit more detail to see when the photos are enlarged.
Cynthia - always something to see.
Maggie - I guessed you might find it familiar!
Leia - it was a lovely Sunday.
jabblog - they have to throw back if not up to a minimum size, but I'm not sure what that is.
It must be great to live so close to the sea like you do. Lovely photos.

how fun, you really have to know the tides and be respectful to make this work!
