Getting Organised

Have just realised that we are now in the second week of August and I am going to have to make 'to do' lists to keep myself organised. We have a few events between now and the end of the month and once into September I shan't have a lot of spare time before I start jet-setting (so to speak).

We are at a party tonight and it is 2nd son's 40th birthday celebrations next week. The following weekend we have a civic event to attend on Bob's behalf, more of which nearer the time. In between there are the usual routines (including blogging!) plus I have to see to my eldery mum's needs several times a week.

In the second week in September I have promised to be in Stratford upon Avon to help 2nd daughter with taking and meeting her little girl to and from school and will be returning home on 13th September. And on 17th September mum and I fly to Australia to visit 1st son and his family. As well as this I have to pack my case (twice), help mum to pack her case and leave the freezer packed (for Bob).

I have undertaken to make and ice a 70th birthday cake for a friend's mum and that will have to be ready to deliver a couple of days before I fly off. The cake is already made and is lying in a darkened room until it is time to get ready for the party. I will be making sugar flowers for it, probably roses and lilies but haven't begun them yet. That is a job to start this afternoon.

So to keep my mind clear, it is time for lists.

Has anyone seen my pad and pen ............ ?

I had a year like that last year, I went to Northern Ireland, spent several weeks in Switzerland then went on the Orient Express trip from Istanbul to Venice and finally a "New Hampshire in the Fall" trip. It was hectic, but this year I have had to stay put because of OG's health. We have had a few weddings though, and still a couple to come. Enjoy.

Came here from Retired and Crazy. Sounds like quite the party season there.

You're flying to Australia? I live in Melbourne. I can organise a VIP red-carpet arrival !!!

Hi RAC - it sounds as though you had fun last year and the Orient Express too, that is something I would love to do, I shall have to add it to our 'list'. Hope you can both catch your breath this year and then start planning more trips fairly soon. A x

Hello David - yes we're certainly trying to make the most of our retirement. And we love Australia, family is in Adelaide. Will let you know if we plan on visiting Melbourne so that you can order that carpet. A

Hi Anne, loved reading your blog, will add it to my blog roll. I retired at the end of 06. I had 6 one week holidays the first year and have managed 6 already this! We've never travelled outside Europe but have Australia and New Zealand on our list. My Mum is 86 too. She lives 100 miles away but is moving to "just around the corner" very soon, thank goodness. Looking forward to more of your blogs. Flick xx

Hi Flick - thanks for stopping by. Sounds as though you are enjoying your retirement. If I can ever get Bob to slow down a bit we will be away more often.

A xx

Hi Anne, thanks for visiting my blog. I am enjoying yours also and enjoy reading what's going on in your life, which seems real busy. My head would be spinning by this time. I envy you your trip to Australia. I would love to visit that beautiful country one day. I know you will have a fantastic holiday.
