Briefly embarrassing?

Preparing to get showered this morning I put my underwear to one side, but later could not find the briefs that I knew I had taken out of the drawer. I searched for them but no luck. Oh well, they'll turn up sometime, so I took out another pair. A bit later on, downstairs, I heard OH exclaim "what the **** is this" and looked up to see him holding my missing undies. He had mistaken them for one of his hankies and just stuffed them into his pocket.

It was fortunate that he found them when he did as he had a meeting to attend later in the day. Can you imagine the thoughts and comments if he had discovered them then!

It did make us laugh. Thought I'd share!

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Okay now, you made me LOL!!!

I knew I'd be in for a treat when I found your name "Strawberry Jam Ann" over at An English Girl Rambles. Sure enough.

Your humorous story reminds me of another story (true, I'm told).... many years ago when women still wore hats and gloves when they went out in public, a woman was riding the trolley to her job. No seats on the bus, so she was holding onto the strap above, swaying in the aisle as the trolley lumped and lurched.

Suddenly one of her gloves (I guess she had taken them off) fell into the lap of a seated sleeping, slightly derelict old fellow.

You can imagine her horror! There her glove sat primly on the lap of this old guy. How would she retrieve?

Well, suddenly the fellow awakes, it was his stop, he looks down on his lap, figures the white glove must be part of his shirt tail that got untucked, and if he didn't grab the glove and tuck it into his trousers. And off he went oblivious to what had just occurred.

I have often pondered that story and wondered what that fellow thought when he got home that night and got ready for bed. Something interesting happened that day, and he'd missed it!

This story still makes my eyes water.....

Anyways, thanks for the laughs... yours and now mine!

Come and visit... I enjoy writing about living a beautiful life.

Hi Anne, Great story!!! Made me laugh too. I don't have a story of misplaced undies but I am going to watch this comments section to read about other people's mishaps.

LOL!! I can just imagine his bewilderment!

But, wow, you must have dainty undies if they can mistaken for a hanky!

Thank you so much for the chuckle you gave me this morning! A good start to the day! Could have been embarrassing if he'd got out the panties to blow his nose in a crowded place!

My husband is a magpie! He often puts my stuff in his wardrobe by mistake ( or so he says) and I hunt everywhere for missing items. So far he has never stolen pants! Ha ha.

Missing undies? This happened only a few weeks ago. My son and family came to visit for a day - it was cold. Upon going outside James (aged 7) was asked to put on his coat, which he did. He shrugged his hands in the pocket of his anorak and out came a pair of lace undies! James looked really shocked and we all burst into laughter. We concluded his mother's knickers had become entangled with the said anorak in the washing machine.

I had a good laugh at that one Anne, Your OH would never have heard the last of it if he had pulled them out at the meeting!
It is not usual for items of underwear to turn up in unexpected places in this house or garden as we have a kleptomaniac cocker spaniel. Given half a chance, socks, pants and bras are highly prized by Jasper to add to his collection. He likes to carry things around or bury them for later, the stables are a favourite place for this so I regularly turn up a sock whilst mucking out!

This made me laugh. It is usually the socks that get mixed up in this house and my husband would never manage to get his big feet into my dainty socks but it does not stop him putting my socks in his drawer.
